Degustabox Preview July 2014

So, does anyone do Degustabox?
It’s my first time (awww) with this company. I ordered at the beginning of the month but then received an e-mail to say they had run out of stock. I forgot all about it until yesterday when they texted me to say my delivery was coming today.
They use DPD in my area, so I was able to get a 1 hour time slot (love DPD for that!).

So, here are the contents 🙂

Not bad for £4.99!
I think the usual price is £12.99, so look for a sign up special like I did.
And don’t forget they take the money every month, so remember to cancel your subscription if you don’t want to receive it at the full price.

Life In The Fast Lane

That’s what life feels like to me at the moment.
Like you’re on a roller coaster ride and it isn’t stopping!
In reality I have tons to blog about, but so little time.

I was recently diagnosed with seborrhoeic dermatitis, a condition I’ve been treating as eczema (no wonder the treatments didn’t work!) and I’m pleased to say I now have it under control (bar the odd flare up due to stress).

I thought I’d also like to give you some tips for cooking on a budget and some recipes I make.
I really got back into cooking again when circumstances had us budgeting on as little as £23 a week for food to feed 4 of us. It’s amazing on what you can actually create out of nothing.
I also started using my slow cooker more as it was more ‘power’ friendly. Cutting down on electricity usage is always good right?

I know everyone loves a bargain, so I thought I’d share my bargain finds for you all too.
I do use coupons and cashback sites, every little helps though.
I know some people don’t like to use them, but they’re there to save you money.

So now I’ve written it down here it might motivate me to blog at least 3 times a week (unless there’s a fab bargain to be shared then I’ll blog immediately).

So, welcome to my new improved blog. Designed for people who want to make their lives easier.

See you soon!

Auld Lang Syne

I love bringing in the New Year with a good old rendition of Auld Lang Syne. I do get quite emotional while singing it. It was always a tradition to sing this every year. I was brought up with it.

So to end a very eventful 2013 we had my 2 daughters and my son, my sister, her partner, my nephew, my oldest daughters boyfriend and my sons girlfriend round to bring in 2014.
At midnight hubby and I stood, crossed arms and began to sing. Nobody else joined in.

How sad that a tradition used by many families and generations no longer sing this. But I’m even more sad that I know it will not be passed on to further generations.

The lyrics are heartwarming. I suppose it’s why I get slightly emotional. But many just sing it without knowing what the song is about.

Goodbye tradition. I will carry you on every year until I am no longer on this earth. I will pester my children and grandchildren (if I am blessed with any) to sing in the new year with you.

First Blackberry Post

Here is the first obligatory posting from my Blackberry. All new blogging platforms need one. I have no idea why we do these things. Must be the inner geek in
us 😉

More of? Lack of?
I’ve not blogged at WordPress for the longest time. Those who know me know where to find my blog posts. However I decided to cancel my internet until I move house (yes, again) as the line is faulty and I just got tired of calling tech support when in reality it’s out of their hands and into mine.
Do I really want to shell out almost £200?
It would mean having to cancel anyway and set up a new account. Hassle.
I can blog from my Blackberry, so I decided to download the Blackberry app and use my little place on the net again.

What’s new?
I’m hoping to get diagnosed with ménière’s disease. This is something I’ve had since 2008, but due to fungal ear infections (otomycosis) brought on by eczema my consultant decided to focus on trying to minimise that first. My first step towards being diagnosed with ménière’s disease is Monday so fingers crossed.

That’s the snippet from me today. Those who read my other blog will have had a more ‘in depth’ version of this (sorry).

The Big Move

So I eventually did it! The big move from Wales to England happened 3 weeks ago. I have been itching to move back to my home town for a while, so when the opportunity arose of course I grabbed it with both hands.
The cats were very good. Transporting 4 cats 100 miles isn’t fun, but they all coped relatively well. I wouldn’t do it again in a hurry!
And of course it was so close to Christmas. But I have now got the perfect present. I am home!

30 Day Song Challenge

Day 6 already!

A Song That Reminds You Of Somewhere

The only problem I had with this is finding the artist! I had no clue who sang it.
This song reminds me of when I worked at Matalan. It was always playing. I worked a lot of hours a week and at one point did 42 hours, though my contract was for 8 hours.
To me it will always be the song that reminds me of Matalan!

30 Day Song Challenge

And so onto Day 5!

A Song That Reminds You Of Someone

I had no hesitation with this, I was just crossing my fingers You Tube had a version somewhere and they did.
I’m sure I’ve said previously I was brought up on 60’s music. Not that I mind, there were some great songs that were made.
My dad was a band freak, so he mainly played 60’s bands. Especially if they were Manchester or Liverpool bands.
Anyway, back to the song.
Every Sunday since I’ve been little, we have always gone to Grandma and Grandads for Sunday lunch. It was just one of those rituals.
Gran used to make so much food! So much so every Sunday after lunch Grandad would go to bed and sleep for a few hours.
We grandchildren were allowed to wake him up at 6pm.
We used to sing this song to him (I’m sure he could have slapped us really!) except we changed the words from Anna to Grandad.
I loved those Sundays!

30 Day Song Challenge

And so onto Day 4.

A Song That Makes You Sad

This one was relatively easy, music makes me happy. However a couple of songs make me sad and I’ll explain why.
I had 2 songs to choose between. One brings back memories of Hillsborough and the Liverpool FC fans who lost their lives. The one I chose however brings back the haunting memories of the Ethiopian Famine of 1984. I was a young teenager then and those images will haunt me forever.

30 day Song Challenge

And so onto Day 3.

A Song That Makes You Happy

This was quite tough for me as there are tons of songs that make me happy for different reasons, however there is one that does make me happy full stop.
I remember this one being released, hearing it and thinking ‘wow’.
It’s a jaunty little number, and features a very young Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) on the bass guitar.
I have tons of fantastic memories around the time this was released so definitely one that gets me smiling.
A random bit of info is that I eventually got all this bands back catalogue of singles and albums. I became a huge fan.
Such a pity they were a 3 year project.
The Housemartins – Happy Hour
Thanks for the memories guys!
