30 Day Song Challenge

Day 2 of the 30 Day Song Challenge.
Your Least Favourite Song

This one was quite difficult as I grew up in the 80’s and there were lots of contenders! However I decided to go for something more modern. Believe me, there are plenty of monstrosities hitting our charts these days that just make my ears bleed. This one in particular is a result of The X Factor. She should have been booted from the series weeks before she eventually did, and no she didn’t win it (thank goodness). That didn’t stop her getting a record deal. Mainly because of her mentor ‘knowing and possibly manipulating’ certain people.
So join me in the ‘ear bleed’ of the year….

30 Day Song Challenge

This has been done many times I know, but it’s something I’ve never done.
I thought I’d give it a go here.

Day 1 – Your Favourite Song

Extremely difficult to choose. I love music. All kinds of music. I can even read music.
My favourite genre is Rock music.
I was brought up with music from the 60’s even though I was born in 1971.
So I suppose it’s no surprise to see this one as my most favourite song. Ever.
John Lennon – Imagine.
Lyrically beautiful, the opening bars still bring goosebumps!

New Computer

Absence makes the heart grow fonder…. well, for some maybe but my time away from the internet has been fun. rather than fire up google chrome and hit the Facebook bookmark tab I’ve had to live with internet using my iphone. My desktop was not receiving wifi for some strange reason. My mobile phone gets free unlimited 3g internet, but it’s slow as anything.
So, to cut a long story short, I got a laptop. Brand new, decent specs, and it connects to my wifi no problem! I’ve had my desktop for a while so maybe it’s on it’s last legs. It’s taking some getting used to is this laptop. The keyboard is slightly different, I’ve had to buy a mouse for it as i’m a complete learner with a touch pad.
I’ve missed all the Cats on Tuesday postings so it looks like I’ll be busy for some time playing catch up!
Off to do just that xx

Cats On Tuesday

Cats On Tuesday

As I always read the lovely Gattina‘s blog every Tuesday (well, I do actually check more than Tuesday just in case she’s done another post) I decided to do my own Cats On Tuesday post.

I have been blessed with having been owned by the most gorgeous creatures ever created. They all have their unique personalities.
I have also had the misfortune and heartbreak of losing 2 at young ages through illness. Maybe I could share their tales with you sometime, but right now I want to introduce you to my 4 little monsters! As it’s my first Cats On Tuesday blog it’s only right you meet them.

Our oldest cat who we thought was male when we got her! She’s 9 years old.
Very vocal, doesn’t like visitors to the house, gets on ok with the rest of the cats to a point.
I had her on a whim, little did I know the rest of the litter and the mummy cat were going to be drowned or I’d have taken them all. So sad.

Mitty is 8 years old. He was my sisters cat originally but she didn’t want him any more.
Mitty loves all creatures! He loves all cats, dogs etc. Β He thinks he’s the mummy cat to all new kittens we have had.
Very affectionate, loves to sit on your knee, especially if you’re wearing black clothing. (He likes to share his white fur)

Jake is about 3 years old. We got Jake just after Ruby died (I’ll explain her story soon, but not today). I had always wanted a grey tabby and when the young girl from down the street knocked on the door and asked if I wanted him I just had to have him.
Jake is the naughty one. He is also quite grumpy. He hates any change (he will go into a mood if you change your bedding, or move the furniture) and he doesn’t really ‘get on’ with new additions to the family (sometimes he doesn’t get on with us!).

We got Kitty on Christmas Eve 2010. He’s not 1 year old yet (but he is the biggest of all the cats). Kitty is friendly but extremely timid with strangers and strange noises. Kitty needs to go on a diet as he is too fat, so it will make for some interesting reading while doing Cats on Tuesday!

Now that you’ve met my brood I’m off to visit all your feline beauties.
Thank you for reading and I hope you’ll come again next Tuesday.

Test Blog For I-Phone

Just a quick test blog to see if I’m able to blog on the go. Today was a great day at the office πŸ˜‰

A New Start

Quite literally too!
I had a total career change and started an Admin position a while back. I’m quite excited as I’ve never done this type of work before.
I’m also trying to learn Welsh as there are more job openings for those who speak it, or speak a little of it to get by πŸ˜‰ Obviously this isn’t going as good as I thought it would.
Usually I’m a quick learner. This applies to most things but it would seem learning a new language is not one of them.
I’ve mastered the Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening bit. I can say Please and Thank You. I can count numbers up to 99. I can remember a few days of the week, but months are not so good 😦
Now I know why we go to school when we are younger. Our brains absorb much more info.

So of course the weather has been fab while I’ve been in work. Luckily I finish at 3pm, so I do catch a little of the sun.
This past week our back garden has been a hot spot. It’s a sun trap and although it might only be 60F it’s more like 72F out there.
This of course pleased the cats greatly.
I snapped this pic of 2 of them enjoying the sun. They’re like little kittys again πŸ™‚

Cats Sunbathing

Cats enjoying the sun

The cats may be enjoying the sun on the decking, but I noticed the back garden needs some TLC and the decking needs a coat or 2 of paint. More stress wondering when I’m going to fit it in to my time. Looks like it could be a couple of weekends worth of work.

It’s Mothering Sunday here in the UK. While I didn’t receive pressies (I never do) I loved my home-made cards the kids did πŸ™‚ I prefer those to the shop bought ones.
Plus I don’t need pressies. My kids would do anything for me. Pressies are material for the needy ones who ‘simply must have’ something to brag to their friends about. I’m quite happy with my cup of tea and home-made cakes and cards. πŸ™‚

Sleepy Sunday

I don’t know why, but I’m always tired and sleepy on a Sunday.
I have made it to 4.40pm without a catnap so that’s a feat in itself.
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to ‘dance in the pouring rain’ as it hasn’t rained today (it did yesterday) though we have had very high winds.

Talking of winds, Jake (the cat) refuses to go out in the wind. Rain doesn’t bother him, but if you open the back door and it’s windy he won’t budge.
Of course having high winds for the past 3/4 days has made for a very unhappy cat. He has sulked, moped, shouted, sat behind the door (presumably hoping the wind has gone).
So I’ve had the cat sleeping on top of the boiler watching my every move in the kitchen. I have no idea how the boiler hasn’t fallen off he is so big and heavy.
And some people think children are strange, try living with my cats!

The ‘men of the house’ have had Sky Sports channels on all day. Football. Just great.
But it turned out ok for me πŸ™‚
I treated myself to some fab free bargains at A5D!
If I have time later this evening I just might create with them πŸ™‚
And of course by grabbing the bargains, I fulfilled todays task of treating myself.

Now it’s back to the kitchen for me to check on the tea and prepare veggies.
Such is a womans life πŸ˜‰

have fun and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

TGI Friday!

I love Fridays!
They are the end to a tedious week.
I love Friday because you know you can stay in bed a little longer the following day πŸ™‚
Yesterday I blogged that I was going to be creative and treat myself at least once a day.
Todays treat?
I bagged a bargain πŸ˜‰
I walk everywhere because I can’t drive (won’t drive), so I go through more footwear than an average woman.
I spotted a pair of military style boots (the ones in fashion) on sale. They should have been Β£44.99 and were dropped to just Β£15.
I picked them up, carried them around the store, put them back. Picked them back up….. yes, this went on for quite a few minutes.
I bought them. I knew if I didn’t I would toss and turn all night wondering if someone else got ‘my bargain find’ and have to run to the shop tomorrow to see if they were still available.
I’m now the proud owner of new boots πŸ™‚ My old ones were wearing extremely thin, and were leaking in water if it rained.
Of course hubby can’t say anything, he drives everywhere πŸ˜‰

Enjoy your weekend! I plan on doing housework and for once opening Photoshop.
Have fun!

Friday Fill Ins (2011-05)

To participate in the Friday Fill Ins please visit here.

Here we go! πŸ™‚

1. We are on this earth because we all have a special unique job to do.

2. I will never experience what a ‘loving family’ truly is.

3. One of the hardest things for me to learn was to ‘believe in yourself’.

4. My family and I never connected.

5. I remember to pay my bills on time. I’m pretty good that way.

6. Being a mum is one of the best parts of my life.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing, tomorrow my plans include housework (yuck) and Sunday, I want to dance in the pouring rain!

Thanks for reading πŸ™‚

It’s Just Thursday

I’ve been out of the loop for a long time. Blogging, tweeting, facebooking, scrapping, foruming (is that a word?) so I feel like a stranger to the internet.
It’s strange.
If I’m totally honest I used to spend hours procrastinating. Blog hopping, posting in various forums, coding new sites, creating images in Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. I often wonder how I was able to fit everything in. I used to update my tutorial site, my blog site and still have time to create. These days it got me thinking, maybe I neglected my family. Maybe we lived off frozen meals, but looking back I didn’t and we didn’t. So why do I now have to find time to even blog let alone anything else?
Has old age finally caught up with me? Do I type slower than I used to? Is my computer slower than it used to be?
But seriously, I feel like a stranger. I logged into Facebook earlier and looking at the status updates I felt as though I didn’t know these people. I log into Twitter and I’ve missed pages of tweets and can’t scroll back because it takes too long, things to do, places to go, people to see.
So what changed?
Today I walked into town and looked in a few shops. I enjoyed myself for the first time in ages. It felt like old times.
I even had a nice healthy pinkish blush to my cheeks. A smile on my face and laughter.
And the thought of trying to ‘catch up’ with everyone on social networking sites fills me with dread.

So I’ve set myself a new goal. I have to be creative and enjoy myself at least once a day.
So look for the daily posts with either something I’ve made or a photo of something that caught my eye.
I’m looking forward to sharing with you πŸ™‚
